  3. This README file contains brief information regarding the enclosed WILDCAT!
  4. TEST-DRIVE release.
  5.  
  6. 1. The dates on all files you receive should be 03-01-91, and all programs
  7.    should reference the TEST-DRIVE release of that date. This TEST-DRIVE
  8.    program is distributed as a two-diskette set (if on disk) or as two
  9.    self-extracting .EXE files. If you have any doubts about the integrity
  10.    of the files you have received you may order the TEST-DRIVE program
  11.    directly from Mustang Software, Inc. for $10 Call us at 805-395-0223 if
  12.    you want a complete version shipped via UPS.

  28. 2. MAKE SURE you have a minimum of 2 MB of Hard Disk Storage available
  29.    BEFORE installing WILDCAT!
  30.  
  31. 3. If you received this version directly from Mustang Software, Inc or
  32.    perhaps your User Group or Shareware Vendor, then you should have
  33.    received two diskettes. To Install, simply place the disk
  34.    labeled INSTALL in Drive A: and Type
  35.  
  36. INSTALL [ENTER]
  37.  
  38. Upon presentation of the Main Installation Menu, proceed to
  39. configure Installation defaults such as Archive directory, Wildcat
  40. TD destination, etc.  Pressing [ENTER] on the desired field will
  41. allow editing of the defaults.  If any specified paths are not
  42. found, the user will be notified of this and they will be created
  43. by the installation program.

  45. INSTALL PROGRAM OPTIONS
  46.  
  47. Select
  48.  
  49. Upon selection of this option, the user is presented with a window
  50. outlining the nine choices for installation of the various files
  51. and utility programs.
  52.  
  53.      ALL - selects for installation all Menus, Display files,
  54.      Bulletins and Utility programs as well as the Test Drive
  55.      Documentation, which can optionally be printed out after
  56.      installation is complete by selecting "Y" where "Print
  57.      Documents" is indicated on the Main Menu.  INSTALL defaults to
  58.      ALL, as this is the normal choice for first time
  59.      installations.

  61.      SCREENS - selects for installation all Display screens,
  62.      including both Color and Non-Color versions, but excluding
  63.      Menus, Help Files, and Bulletins.
  64.  
  65.      MENUS - selects for installation all customizable Menus.
  66.  
  67.      HELP FILES - selects for installation all Color as well as
  68.      Non-color Help files.
  69.  
  70.      BULLETINS - selects for installation all Bulletin Files,
  71.      including sample Bulletins and Menu.
  72.  
  73.      MISC - selects for installation the file ALL.OK, used during
  74.      external protocol file transfers.  See the appropriate
  75.      sections of the documentation for a discussion of this file.

  77.      UTILITIES - selects for installation all utility programs such
  78.      as the MAKEWILD setup program and the FIX! series utilities.
  79.  
  80.      DOCUMENTS - selects for installation the WILDCAT! Test Drive
  81.      Documentation for extraction.  This must be done before it can
  82.      be printed, whether from DOS or via the "Print Documents"
  83.      option.
  84.  
  85.      PROGRAM - selects for installation the WILDCAT! executable
  86.      files.
  87.  
  88. Go
  89.      upon selection of this option, all selected files are de-
  90.      archived into their respective directories, and all other
  91.      options are carried out as defined.
  92.  
  93. Quit
  94.      This option immediately returns the user to the DOS prompt.
  95.  
  96. Upgrading 1.03   : N
  97.      Select this option if you are upgrading from WILDCAT! ver.
  98.      1.03SW.  After selecting GO, the current Databases will be
  99.      upgraded to the Test-Drive format, and you current MAKEWILD
  100.      configuration will be converted.
  101.  
  102. Configure WILDCAT!: N
  103.      Selection of this option will cause the MAKEWILD configuration
  104.      program to be invoked after all selected files have been
  105.      installed.  Since MAKEWILD must be invoked after installation
  106.      prior to running WILDCAT!, this option should be set to Y for
  107.      most installations.  Note that MAKEWILD must be run even if
  108.      upgrading from a prior version.

  110. Create .BAT files: Y
  111.      Select this option if you wish to have the Install program
  112.      create your batch files for starting WILDCAT!, as well as
  113.      ZUP.BAT and ZDOWN.BAT for use with ZMODEM as an external
  114.      protocol.

  116. Overwrite Files  : Y
  117.      Select this option if you have existing WILDCAT! files you
  118.      wish to overwrite.  If you are upgrading from a prior release
  119.      you will want to overwrite many file, such as the actual
  120.      WILDCAT! program, but may want to refrain from overwriting
  121.      others, such as your custom display files.  You can specify Y
  122.      to overwrite files, and make use of the overwrite confirmation
  123.      (next question) to select precisely which to overwrite and
  124.      which to keep.

  126. Confirm Overwrite: Y
  127.      Select this option if you wish to be prompted before any pre-
  128.      existing files are over-written during the de-archiving
  129.      process.
  130.  
  131. Print Documents : Y
  132.      Select this option if, upon completion of the installation
  133.      process, you wish to have the INSTALL program print the Test
  134.      Drive Documentation to your printer (device PRN).  Make sure
  135.      your printer is On-Line and has plenty of paper, as the
  136.      documentation is over 180 pages!  You will need the
  137.      documentation to run and setup a WILDCAT! system.

  139. After completing the questions, select GO and your program will
  140. install itself on your hard disk.
